On 3 August 2014, a magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck Ludian County in Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province, leaving more than 600 dead, over 3,000 injured, at least 80 thousand houses damaged or destroyed. Nearly 23 thousand victims were homeless. Two weeks after the earthquake in Ludian County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, the survivors were moved to resettlement centres. Their basic needs have been met but their sadness of losing their beloved ones and homes continues. On 8 November 2013, Super Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines, ravaging several central islands and burying people under tonnes of debris. On 22 July 2013, 7:45 am, a 6.6-magnitude quake jolted a juncture region of Min and Zhang Counties, Dingxi Prefecture of Gansu Province. As of 24 July, 95 people were killed and more then 1,000 were injured. Most of the houses in the affected area were severely damaged. The survivors are sheltered under temporary tents. The massive earthquake and devastating tsunami that hit Japan on 11 March 2011 touched the hearts of the people in Hong Kong.
