On 7 September 2012, an earthquake of 5.7 magnitude struck Yiliang County, Zhaotong Municipal City, Yunnan Province. At least 80 were killed, almost 800 were injured, and about 750,000 people were left homeless. The Salvation Army provides disaster relief proactively, which includes emergency food supplies to the homeless.
