Two recent earthquakes occurred in Gansu and Qinghai provinces, killing 151 people, 980 people injured, many houses were damaged and collapsed. A total of more than 100,000 people has been affected so far. The situation is distressing. The Salvation Army in Hong Kong and Macau has constantly strives to assist those in need. It continues to actively pay attention to the situation in the disaster areas through multiple channels, and has donated HK$100,000 to support earthquake-stricken areas in Gansu and Qinghai for winter resettlement and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.

 

Two devastating earthquakes have hit Gansu and Qinghai provinces recently, causing 151 deaths, 980 people injured, numerous buildings destroyed and over 100,000 people have been suffered from the disaster. The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Territory is dedicated to helping people in need, and is unceasingly concerned about the situation in the earthquake stricken areas through multiple channels.

Colonel Philip Maxwell, Territorial Commander of the Hong Kong and Macau Territory, prayed for all those affected: ‘In a season when our thoughts are turned increasingly inward and our focus is on hope, love and joy, it is essential that we make room in our hearts and prayers for the suffering and loss of others’. May all house affected rebuild their homes as early as possible and find peace and comfort in these difficult times.
