In response to the trend of sustainable development and circular economy, better utilisation of current resources and renewing old items have become important issues in the fashion industry. The Salvation Army is cooperating with VTC Youth College and the Tai Hing Group to host the Upcycling Denim Design Award again this year. The Award is divided into three themes: Renewed Aprons, Sustainable Denim Bags, and Upcycled Caps. Students from VTC Youth College’s Diploma of Vocational Education (Fashion) programme utilised techniques such as patchwork, mix and match, bleach and dye, and others, unleashing their creativity in re-designing idle clothes into unique and fashionable items.
