Dai Mingxiu is one of the left-behind women in the Fengdeng village in Sichuan. As her household did not have running water, she had to carry water back home daily from the village well, which was very difficult and inconvenient. In 2022, The Salvation Army helped build water supply stations in the village, so every household has running water now. This created a vast change in Dai’s life. She no longer needs to carry water back and forth daily and has free time to participate in square dance events organised by the village organisation with the support of the Army, enjoying her life with other left-behind women in the village. As the burden of the water is lifted off her shoulders, she is living a happier and more fulfilling life.
