PILOT SCHEME ON ON-SITE PRE-SCHOOL REHABILITATION SERVICES
To enable children with special needs to access the necessary training early in the prime training period, the Social Welfare Department (SWD) will launch a two-year Pilot Scheme on On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services (Pilot Scheme) through the Lotteries Fund in the fourth quarter of 2015. Under the Pilot Scheme, multi-disciplinary service teams from the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will offer on-site services to participating kindergartens (KGs) and kindergarten-cum-child care centres (KG-cum-CCCs) to provide early intervention to children who are on the waiting list for SWD-subvented pre-school rehabilitation services. The Pilot Scheme will also provide professional advice for kindergarten teachers/ child care workers to assist them in working with children with special needs, and render support to the parents on fostering positive attitude and providing effective skills in raising their children with special needs.
