The Salvation Army Family Adventure 2017

Every child could be a Superkid

The Salvation Army Family Adventure 2017 was successfully held on 12 November 2017 (Sunday) at Lai Chi Kok Park. A total of 313 teams with nearly 1,000 parents and children participated in the four sessions of orienteering game, searching for the various checkpoints scattered at the Park. The Event raised almost HK$450,000 to support the various services of the Army.

Although the weather was not favourable that day, with the encouragement and company by their parents, our Superkids went through the challenge to search for the 25 checkpoints in the Park within the 75-minute time limit with only a wordless map. The course also included 5 experiential checkpoints for the Superkids to learn how to care for the others by Serving the community, Supporting the underprivileged and Saving the environment. These enhanced the children’s understanding of the underprivileged groups in the community and how to share love, care, hope and positive energy with them. The game also provided an occasion for the young children to learn how to face challenges and difficulties with perseverance.

At the finishing of the game, each child participant was awarded with a certificate and a medal.

The Salvation Army would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the event Sponsors: Rainbow Foundation, Mendoza, Popular Holdings Limited, Grace Cup Co. Limited and Polywell Printing & Supplies Limited; Technical support partners:  Orienteering Association of Hong Kong and Youth Advance Orienteering Club.

We are also thankful for the kind support provided by the following organisations:
